The wheat market extended its upward momentum on Friday, with the three major exchanges recording gains. Chicago SRW contracts advanced 22‑23 cents, KC HRW futures rose 25‑26 cents, and MPLS spring wheat climbed 13‑17 cents by midday.
Despite limited new U.S. export business, concerns over Black Sea export disruptions are adding a premium to wheat prices, supporting the rally.
Export sales data for the current marketing year show total wheat sales of 8.342 million metric tons, down 31 % from the same week last year. This represents 40 % of the USDA export projection and lags behind the typical 52 % pace.
Ukraine’s Minister of Agriculture indicated that the 2027 winter wheat crop “will definitely” be smaller than the previous 4.7 million hectares (11.61 million acres).
Key contract prices on Sep 26: CBOT Wheat $7.65 ¼ (up 22½ cents), Dec 26 CBOT Wheat $7.83 ½ (up 22¾ cents), KCBT Wheat Sep 26 $8.29 ¼ (up 25¾ cents), Dec 26 KCBT Wheat $8.47 ¾ (up 25¾ cents), MIAX Wheat Sep 26 $7.46 ½ (up 13¾ cents), and Dec 26 MIAX Wheat $7.74 (up 16¼ cents).
