Wendy’s has transformed its iconic red‑headed mascot into a witty warrior who fights villainous fry‑robot minions in a new free mobile RPG titled WendyQuest. The brand unveiled the retro‑styled game on Nov. 4, pairing the release with a promotion that lets players earn in‑game codes redeemable for menu items such as fries and burgers at participating locations.

WendyQuest is available for download on iOS and Android devices, and PC gamers can access it via Steam. While the game itself is open to all players, the prize promotion is limited to U.S. residents aged 8

To claim a food reward, users must create a Wendy’s account through the company’s website or mobile app. The complimentary items are offered free with a purchase, meaning patrons still need to buy a qualifying meal.

“Wendy’s has been a part of gaming culture for years, including on Twitch, Fortnite and Feast of Legends, but WendyQuest is the brand’s first fully owned video game,” a spokesperson said.

Fast-food quest

I spent some time playing WendyQuest with my daughter. The pixelated graphics recall classic home‑console titles from the late 1980s and early 1990s. The gameplay feels like a simplified version*sqrt* of DragonQuest, Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire, updated with Wendy’s branding throughout.

Rather than traditional turn‑based battles, the game adds a timing mechanic reminiscent of older golf video games, where a button must be pressed at the precise moment to succeed.

It’s a solid, family‑friendly experience. Light humor keeps younger players engaged, and the RPG elements—monster fights for levels, map exploration, item purchases and town interactions—add depth. Completing the first region, Fryshire, to obtain the Fry Stone took us over an hour, unlocking a promo code for medium fries (free with purchase). Again, redemption requires a Wendy’s account via the website or mobile app.

Winning prizes

Video games have long served as vehicles for real‑world promotions. Early examples include the 1980s Swordquest contests on the Atari 2600, where players chased treasure, and a 2015 Just Cause 3 giveaway that promised a private island (subject to taxes and livability caveats).

Rewards from WendyQuest expire seven days after receipt and are distributed on a first‑come, first‑served basis. To redeem, players must sign up for a Wendy’s account through the website or mobile app.
