West Ham United have opened discussions with Cardiff City over a potential deal for highly rated 20-year-old centre-back Dylan Lawlor, according to a report from West Ham Way.
The Welsh youth international emerged as a standout performer during Cardiff’s campaign last season, contributing two goals and two assists from the heart of defence. His progression has attracted significant attention across England, and the Hammers view him as a foundational piece for their summer restructuring.
With Julen Lopetegui prioritising defensive reinforcements, Lawlor represents a high-upside acquisition capable of developing into a long-term asset at the London Stadium. The move would offer the defender a platform to test himself at a higher level after impressing in League One.
Lawlor is not the only target on West Ham’s radar; the club is also exploring moves for established talents such as Fikayo Tomori and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, underscoring a clear strategic focus on reshaping the backline ahead of the new season.
All parties are reportedly keen to finalise arrangements swiftly, allowing Lawlor to integrate into his new environment and prepare for the challenges ahead.
