West Ham United have dismissed head coach Nuno Espirito Santo following a sluggish beginning to the Championship campaign.
The 52-year-old manager, appointed in September 2025, previously guided the club through its relegation from the Premier League last season.
Despite being considered leading contenders for automatic promotion, the London club currently sits eighth in the standings, trailing league leaders Middlesbrough by six points.
Recent form has been concerning, with just two victories in the last six fixtures. Consecutive home defeats—3-2 against Southampton and 3-1 versus West Bromwich Albion on Saturday—have seen the team slip from second position.
Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also departed the club.
Mark Noble, Steve Potts, and Gerard Prenderville will assume interim responsibility for the squad ahead of Wednesday night’s Championship fixture at Cardiff City.
“Following a comprehensive review of the EFL Championship season’s opening stages, the board of directors has determined that a leadership change is required to keep the club’s objectives and expectations aligned,” a West Ham United statement announced.
“West Ham United extends its gratitude to Nuno, Rui, and Rui for their dedication and efforts during their tenure, and wishes them every success moving forward.”
“The search for a new head coach is currently underway.”
