Toss Bangladesh chose to bat vs West Indies
West Indies have included two fast bowlers in Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph, plus all-rounder Justin Greaves, but left out Kemar Roach. In his place, Joshua Bishop has been handed a Test debut. Bishop, the 26-year-old left-arm spinner, joins Jomel Warrican and Roston Chase as the spin options.
The major news from the toss was that Mushfiqur Rahim, the 106-Test veteran, has been forced to miss out due to a hand injury. He sustained the injury while training in the nets on Tuesday. The last occasion Mushfiqur missed a Test was also against West Indies and also due to injury, during the Caribbean tour in late 2024.
The home side are also deploying three spinners: Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan, with Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful providing pace options.
West Indies will have Amir Jangoo keep wicket, with Shai Hope, who featured in West Indies’ last Test in August, absent from the squad.
