The wheat market displayed mixed movements as Monday’s session concluded. Chicago SRW contracts exhibited modest fluctuations, while KC HRW futures rose by one cent to $4.25. In Minneapolis, spring wheat futures slipped between $3.125 and $3.375 per bushel in the near‑term contracts.
According to the latest USDA NASS Crop Progress report, 96% of the U.S. winter wheat crop had been harvested by Sunday, surpassing the typical pace by 2%. Spring wheat harvest progress reached 41%, exceeding the 5‑year average of 34%. Additionally, spring wheat condition ratings improved by 1 percentage point to 52%, and the Brugler500 index rose 5 points to 344.
The weekly Export Inspections report released on Monday indicated wheat shipments of 493,401 metric tons (18.13 million bushels) for the week ending August 13. This represented a 1.54% increase from the previous week and a 22.43% rise compared with the same week last year. Japan was the leading destination with 142,358 metric tons, followed by 114,636 metric tons to Mexico and 75,437 metric tons to Indonesia. Cumulative shipments for the marketing year now total 3.89 million metric tons (142.9 million bushels), which is 19.29% below the corresponding period of the previous year.
