Carolina Panthers quarterback Will Grier has announced his retirement from the NFL, the team confirmed Wednesday. The 31-year-old initially rejoined the Panthers as a free agent in April after being selected by the franchise in the third round of the 2019 draft. Following his participation in the team’s offseason program, Grier decided to conclude his professional football career.
His NFL tenure was marked by limited starting opportunities, with both of his career starts coming during his rookie season with Carolina. Over his six-year career, Grier also had stints with the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Chargers, and Philadelphia Eagles. The Panthers now enter the season with a quarterback room featuring Bryce Young, Kenny Pickett, and undrafted rookie Haynes King.
