Wilson Commits to Leeds Move as Welsh Star Puts Club First]

Wilson, who completed a move from Fulham to Leeds following the expiry of his contract, has revealed he was influenced by conversations with teammates, particularly captain Ethan Ampadu.

The 69-cap forward, who joined Leeds prior to Wales’ Nations League A campaign against Portugal, Denmark and Norway, becomes the latest Welsh talent to join a growing contingent at Elland Road.

He will team up with fellow internationals Ethan Ampadu, Dan James, Joe Rodon, Karl Darlow and Charlie Crew, along with young defender Jayden Lienou who is poised to make his senior debut.

Wilson, who scored 10 goals in 36 Premier League appearances during his single season at Fulham after joining from Liverpool for £12m, spoke exclusively to the club about his decision.

“I’d say Efe’s (Ampadu) probably the biggest [influence], I’ve been speaking to Efe a lot, but yes, I’m close to all the boys,” Wilson said. “Even before getting here, on international duty, speaking about the club, about the city, about the fans, that made the decision a bit easier.”

The Wales forward, who has scored 17 goals for his country with 12 coming in the past three years, acknowledged the weight of expectation that comes with being a key figure for his nation.

“I think the Bale comparison is something I’ve put to bed quite quickly because I don’t think anyone in our country ever will live up to the standards and the quality that Bale showed over them years,” he explained. “He dragged us through games and produced moments that only a few in the world can.”

“I feel like I’ve gone from one of the younger lads to one of the senior ones quite quickly, especially on the international stage. At my age, I feel like I’m in the prime of my career and I feel really good – really fit and strong.”
