The Apple TV series starring Matthew Rhys, Jeff Hiller, and Kate O’Flynn has earned the Outstanding Comedy Series award at the 2026 Emmy Awards.
The cursed island town in Widow’s Bay has summoned numerous supernatural entities, much to the dismay of its residents. Now, the series has successfully lured an Emmy Award into its grasp as well.
Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey presented the honor, joking about whether they might be half-brothers. Upon accepting the award, series creator Katie Dippold thanked “the evil entity on the island that trusted us with its story.”
Widow’s Bay competed against a formidable slate of nominees, including Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking, and Hacks. The series also secured additional nominations, including Matthew Rhys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, while Dale Dickey and Kate O’Flynn were both nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. All three actors took home their respective awards.
Apple TV renewed Widow’s Bay for a second season in June, right before the Season One finale. “From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been captivated by every eerie mystery, unexpected laugh, and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro, Matthew, and the entire team have crafted,” said Apple TV head of programming Matt Cherniss. “It has become one of those shows everyone is talking about, and we are thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We cannot wait to return for another season.”
Dippold, creator, showrunner, and executive producer of the series, added, “Season Two is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about.”
