ATLANTA — Following their victory in the opening game of the WNBA Finals, the Golden State Valkyries have dropped the subsequent two games by a combined 40 points.
Heading into Saturday’s Game 4 against the Atlanta Dream—a matchup that carries must-win urgency for Golden State—Gabby Williams expressed her desire to see the consistent version of the team that performed well throughout the season.
“I want to see the Golden State I’ve seen all year,” Williams said, emphasizing the need for her team to return to form at State Farm Arena to avoid falling further behind in the best-of-seven series.
Atlanta coach Karl Smesko praised Angel Reese’s development, stating Thursday that she “might be the most improved player from the beginning of the season to right now.” Reese has been instrumental in helping the Dream take a 2-1 series lead, particularly noteworthy given that this franchise had previously been swept in three prior Finals appearances.
