Wonder has teamed up with autonomous delivery specialist Zipline to introduce on‑demand drone food delivery across Texas, United States.
The service is set to commence in January 2027.
This initiative precedes Wonder’s planned expansion into Texas later next year.
The company stated it is constructing the necessary infrastructure to support long‑term growth in the state and to establish a scalable drone delivery network.
Preparations involve new storefronts, kitchen upgrades, logistics systems, and ordering technology.
Dallas will host the initial rollout, with Wonder expecting most of its Texas locations to offer drone delivery by the end of 2027.
Tony Hoggett, CEO of Wonder North America, commented: “Partnering with Zipline lets us push the boundaries of what’s possible, merging our innovative food technology platform with world‑class drone capabilities to reach Texas customers faster and more conveniently, serving them in entirely new ways.”
Zipline’s electric drones are engineered to autonomously collect orders and fly them directly to customers’ doorsteps.
To date, the company has completed over 2.5 million autonomous deliveries worldwide across healthcare, food, and retail sectors.
At Wonder locations, Zipline’s system will manage on‑demand fulfillment through automated flights, pickups, and deliveries that are integrated with Wonder’s kitchen and ordering operations.
Wonder noted that the service requires no special packaging and can be adopted by restaurants without costly infrastructure changes.
The company will also employ the Zipline Dropbox, a pickup system suitable for indoor or outdoor loading that can be installed without construction.
Orders are placed in a keypad‑secured drawer; thereafter Zipline handles the delivery autonomously, eliminating any need for customers to wait or interact with the drones.
Chris Kenney, Zipline’s head of national partnerships, added: “Every restaurant has menu items they hesitate to place in a delivery bag. Zipline changes that. By removing traffic from the equation, Wonder can now confidently offer customers their meals exactly as the chefs intended.”
