Today’s Wordle Etymology
The term “Intel,” denoting “information” or “intelligence,” is a 20th‑century abbreviation of intelligence, frequently used in military and espionage contexts. Intelligence derives from the Latin intelligentia (“understanding”), which stems from intelligere (“to comprehend or discern”).
Today’s Wordle Bot Analysis: Sunday, August 30
Each day I consult Wordle Bot to review my guesses. You can view your own Wordle score via Wordle Bot right here.
Starting with LINGO yielded three yellow tiles, narrowing the possibilities to 18 words. Trying ALIEN reduced the list to three candidates. I initially considered INTEL, entered it, and fortunately it matched the solution. The remaining alternatives were INLET and INCEL—rather amusing that INCEL appears as a valid guess.
Competitive Wordle Score

I felt confident about solving it in three guesses, yet the Bot managed it in two. Consequently, I lost one point, while the Bot earned two for its quick solve and an additional point for outperforming me. Although the Bot’s prospects this month are slim, the updated tally shows me with double its score.
Erik: 32 points
Wordle Bot: 16 points
Today’s Bonus Custom Wordle: Friday, August 28
I now offer a custom Wordle bonus with each daily guide. These puzzles range from four to seven letters. Below is a link to play the custom Wordle I designed for today.
Today’s Bonus Custom Wordle is 6 letters long.
- The hint: Creepy crawly.

- Yesterday’s Custom Wordle Answer: SNARKY
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- A correct guess on the first attempt earns three points; two guesses yield two points; three guesses give one point; four guesses earn zero points; five guesses result in a penalty of one point; six guesses incur a penalty of two points; failing to solve the word costs three points.
- Defeating your opponent awards one point; a tie gives zero points; losing subtracts one point. Sum these to determine your total score, which you can track daily or reset each day.
- On Fridays, scores are doubled—both gains and losses are multiplied by two.
- You may maintain a cumulative total or play each day independently. Enjoy the game!
