A Chinese biotechnology company filed a lawsuit on Thursday against the U.S. government after being placed on a list of Chinese firms that the Department of Defense alleges have ties to China’s military.
WuXi AppTec submitted its complaint to a federal court in Washington, describing the listing as arbitrary, capricious, and driven by political pressure, and claiming it lacks factual support.
The company further contended that the designation has caused significant reputational and operational damage by labeling it a national‑security threat without legal or factual justification.
WuXi seeks removal from the list. A Pentagon spokesperson said the agency does not comment on ongoing litigation.
The lawsuit follows the Pentagon’s recent expansion of its blacklist to 188 companies, reflecting concerns that China’s military might leverage private‑sector technologies amid heightened geopolitical tensions between the two nations.
