Yemen’s internationally recognized government reports significant progress in coordinated military operations against Houthi rebels over the past 24 hours.

Colonel Majed Abdullah al-Nazili, government forces spokesman, stated that at least 1,150 Houthis were eliminated in nearly 2,000 operations nationwide under the codename “Operation Dawn of Yemen”.

The military announced the destruction of Houthi ammunition depots and 180 enemy combat, transport, and supply vehicles, with ground forces continuing their advance in key regions.

Al Jazeera has not independently verified these claims amid ongoing conflicts.

The conflict intensified following a recent attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which caused casualties and flight disruptions.

The Houthis, an Iran-aligned group controlling Sanaa since 2014, have threatened to target all aircraft using Saudi airspace except flights to Mecca and Medina.

According to Al Jazeera’s correspondent Yousef Mawry, the Houthis are preparing to expand their operations, including potential missile attacks against Pakistan and targeting Pakistan-flagged vessels in the Red Sea.

An expert analysis suggests the conflict is entering a new phase of escalation, with international involvement increasing the risk of broader regional engagement.

Government forces are prioritizing the recapture of key positions around the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a vital maritime corridor. Battles raged near Mocha and Dhubab, strategic Red Sea cities whose control would significantly impact global shipping routes.
