Yemen’s Information Minister Muammar Al-Eryani reported Friday that a young girl was injured when a projectile fired by Houthi forces struck a family home in the city of Taiz.
In a statement posted to X, Al-Eryani identified the victim as Nouf, who was playing inside her family’s residence in the Old Airport district when the shell hit. The minister did not disclose the severity of the child’s injuries.
Al-Eryani accused the Houthi militia of deliberately targeting civilian neighborhoods, asserting that such assaults on residential areas repeatedly endanger women, children, and families. He suggested the frequency of these attacks escalates when the group faces military setbacks elsewhere.
The minister urged a “firm international response” to the violence and demanded accountability for those responsible.
