Just as the band has redefined the concept of an LP, YHWH Nailgun takes the next step by exploring the realm of visual albums. The New York–based experimental rock group released a music video set to Magazine, their newly completed 11‑minute, 10‑track record. Directed by Lane Stewart, the nighttime short follows an array of enigmatic figures across a stark industrial backdrop: dancers performing in abandoned homes, a figure masked in white chased by a drone, and, unexpectedly, a group of endearingly ordinary cows.
In a statement, Stewart explained, “We created this almost entirely by nightfall in my hometown, in the wider region my family hails from, and on the very land I was born into. The songs already carried an otherworldly tone; the play of light and darkness helped uncover a mystique within one of the most ordinary American landscapes.”
YHWH Nailgun first introduced Magazine during their debut album release for 4AD at last month’s C2C Festival NYC. The band will tour North America in September, headlining alongside support from Nuda, Keiyaa, and Morgan Garrett.
