York City has appointed former Crawley Town manager Scott Lindsey as its new head coach, just one day after parting ways with title‑winning manager Stuart Maynard.
Maynard guided the Minstermen to a National League championship and promotion last season, but the club’s board dismissed him on Sunday, citing a “difference in direction and vision for the football club.”
Lindsey previously led Crawley to promotion to League One in 2024, but his second tenure was terminated in March after a ten‑match winless streak in League Two left the team just one point above the relegation zone.
His inaugural match as York manager will be against his former club in an EFL Cup preliminary fixture on Monday, 3 August.
