Zak Starkey Returns to The Who Amid Positive Rehearsal Feedback

After a turbulent separation, the Who have confirmed the return of veteran drummer Zak Starkey to the band. On Wednesday, August 26, lead singer Roger Daltrey attended a solo performance at Las Vegas’ Encore Theatre and praised recent rehearsals with Starkey for what could become the European leg of the “Song Is Over” farewell tour, calling the sessions “great.” His review appears in the Las Vegas Review‑Journal.

Starkey shared a photo of the article on Instagram, writing, “Nice one Rog x. Looking forward to tearing it up with The Who again… the rehearsal was great—I never thought we’d rehearse this hard. Usually we just drink tea and discuss when we’re heading home! Great vocal work from Roger on ‘Certified Rose.’”

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Starkey added, “We spent an afternoon rehearsing and felt absolutely on fire. I’m thrilled to be back playing the music I love with the musicians I love—glad to be home.”
