New Delhi, Sep 17: The ICC Board has named Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani as its new Deputy Chairperson, with his term extending through November 2027.
Mukuhlani, who represents Zimbabwe Cricket on the ICC Board, takes over from Imran Khwaja after his departure. This appointment marks Mukuhlani as the first Zimbabwean to serve as ICC Deputy Chairperson.
Mukuhlani also serves on the ICC Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee and the Nominations Committee, and he chairs the HR and Remuneration Committee. His appointment coincides with a pivotal moment for African cricket, as Zimbabwe prepares to co‑host the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup with South Africa and Namibia.
The tournament will signal the return of the men’s World Cup to Africa after a 24‑year absence, and the ICC views it as a chance to broaden the sport’s footprint across the continent.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah welcomed Mukuhlani’s appointment, noting his administrative expertise and deep understanding of the international game.

Mukuhlani said he felt honoured by the confidence shown in him by the ICC Board and expressed his commitment to advancing cricket’s global growth.
