Lucy Dacus Celebrates ‘No Burden’ Reissue, Unveils New Single Release

Lucy Dacus unveils an unreleased track titled “No Thank You, I Love You, Goodbye”, and performs a live cover of Japanese Breakfast’s hit “Paprika”.

The new recording arrives as Dacus celebrates ten years since the release of her 2016 debut album ‘No Burden’, making it available again in a special re‑issue.

Driven by regaining her original masters, she announced the re‑release on social media, explaining that she felt compelled to bring the project forward after finally getting her masters back.

She confirms the re‑issue will feature the previously unheard single “No Thank You, I Love You, Goodby e”, which was written at the moment of “No Burden” but remained dormant until now.

“‘No Burden’ is ten years old. I wrote these songs when I would not have called myself a musician, while juggling other gigs—box‑office attendant, yearbook editor, waitress—and trying to save $195 for our shared room.

“I’d scribble lyrics on sticky notes or napkins, hum them on my walk home, then sketch out a guitar part before bed,” the musician recalled. “Looking back, I never realised how little my true voice sounded. It feels like staring at a distant horizon I thought I’d lost.”

She added that the original sessions were rushed: “We had only one day to record, and if we’d had more time, I might have found my footing easier—or perhaps less harshly.”

“Getting my master tapes back is what means the most to me today. ‘No Burden’ is mine. That milestone once seemed pure fantasy, but here we are,” she concluded, saying she added the new track and the single to the deluxe edition.

As part of the celebration, Dacus steps into the Bumbershoot Festival lineup in Seattle, filling in for a pregnant Japanese Breakfast and honoring Michelle Zauner with a passionate cover of her song “Paprika”.

Her latest studio effort is *Forever Is A Feeling*, released last year.

Earlier this summer, she appeared on Hayley Williams’s set at the Newport Folk Festival, joining Paramore’s frontwoman alongside Jack Antonoff, Jenny Lewis, Remi Wolf, Wednesday’s Karly Hartzman and Joy Oladokun.

Prior to that, Dacus joined The Killers at Osheaga Festival in Montreal last August for a performance of “Read My Mind”, and partnered with Chappell Roan on “The Book of Love” during a benefit show supporting Sudan and Palestine at Los Angeles.

At Mount St. Francis, she also joined boy‑group member Julien Baker on an Outside Lands appearance to play “Bullseye” in support of the genre‑blending act.
