Kane has reached another milestone, commemorating 29 years since his unforgettable WWE debut as The Big Red Machine first arrived in the company.
The WWE Hall of Famer cleverly turned the anniversary into a playful exchange involving his real-life identity, Glenn Jacobs.
Kane corrects Glenn Jacobs over 29th WWE debut anniversary
Kane’s WWE debut occurred on October 5, 1997, during The Undertaker’s Hell in a Cell match against Shawn Michaels. He famously tore down the door from the structure before confronting his storyline brother, instantly establishing one of WWE’s most memorable characters.
To mark the anniversary, Kane posted a brief message on X reading “Happy birthday to me!” treating the milestone like a birthday celebration. The humor continued when another account slightly miscalculated the timeline.
Glenn Jacobs posted about the anniversary and wrote, “25 years ago today, @KaneWWE made one of the greatest debuts in @WWE history! Happy birthday, big guy!”
Kane, using his WWE account, promptly corrected his real-life counterpart with a response that remained firmly in character: “It was 29 years ago, pal! Man, the dude leaves office and loses all sense of time!”
The exchange played on the unusual reality that Kane and Jacobs are the same person. Jacobs, who gained recognition outside WWE through his political career and served as mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, has been absent from regular in-ring competition for years.
Kane’s wrestling career included numerous World Championship and Tag Team Championship reigns before stepping away from full-time competition. His most recent wrestling appearance came in the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble.
Nearly three decades after his arrival, Kane’s debut continues to stand as a defining moment in WWE history. Apparently, even Glenn Jacobs needs the Big Red Machine to keep the calendar straight.
