England pacer Jofra Archer has signed a one‑year extension pact with Sussex, promising another twelve seasons at Hove.
The 31‑year‑old made his debut for Sussex in 2016 and has claimed 223 first‑class wickets with an average of 25.17.
After extensive injury setbacks, Archer missed four seasons of limited‑overs cricket before rejoining the side in June 2025.
He returned to Test cricket after rebuilding his form, earning a place in the England squad destined for India in July 2025.
Archer was fully fit for the 2025‑26 Ashes series in Australia, where he recorded nine wickets before sustaining a minor strain during the third Test at Adelaide.
Recovering quickly, he secured 23 wickets across five tests against New Zealand and Pakistan later this summer.
“I’ve always felt at home at Sussex since making my first‑class debut in 2016, and it was an easy decision to stay here for another year,” Archer told the club website.
Sussex head coach Matt Walker commented, “He is a world‑class fast bowler who brings something truly special to our club.”
Retaining a player of his calibre is crucial for us as we strive to build a competitive side across every format.
