Seth Rogen confirmed in a recent interview with The New York Times that he has not communicated with James Franco in years and has no intention of collaborating with him again.
Addressing his stance on Franco following sexual misconduct allegations, Rogen stated, “The personal aspects of this situation are too complex for me to elaborate on. While my public position remains unchanged, my actions speak for themselves—I have not worked with him in years. The private details involve individuals whose privacy I don’t wish to compromise. My perspective has remained consistent, and I see no value in diving deeper into this matter.”
When pressed further, Rogen reiterated, “We haven’t spoken in a long time.”
The two actors were prominent collaborators in the 2000s and 2010s, beginning with their roles on the TV series “Freaks and Geeks” and later co-starring in films such as “Knocked Up,” “Pineapple Express,” “This Is the End,” and “The Interview.”
Franco’s professional reputation faced scrutiny in 2018 after multiple women, including former students, accused him of inappropriate behavior. A class-action lawsuit in 2019 alleged he exploited his position as an instructor to make inappropriate advances. Franco settled the case in 2021 for $2.23 million.
This marks the second time Rogen has publicly distanced himself from Franco. In a 2021 interview, he expressed regret over prior comments suggesting potential future projects, clarifying, “I haven’t worked with him, and I don’t plan to.”
Franco, speaking to Variety in 2024, acknowledged the rift: “I haven’t spoken to Seth. We shared 20 incredible years, but it seems over. I’ve tried reaching out, but he hasn’t responded. I’ve expressed how much he means to me.”
