Jannik Sinner (1) has secured a place in Sunday’s Wimbledon final, where he will bid for consecutive championships. Standing between him and the title is Alexander Zverev (2), the current French Open champion.
Their meeting will not be the first Grand Slam singles final featuring both players. They previously clashed in the 2025 Australian Open final, where Sinner claimed victory in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3, against Zverev.
Although the surface differs from that Melbourne hard court, Sinner enters the grass-court showdown as the clear favorite. He is widely regarded as the superior player on grass compared to Zverev.
Despite Zverev’s impressive run—highlighted by a tournament-leading average serve speed of 132 mph—the German has yet to encounter a competitor of Sinner’s caliber.
Observers should expect Sinner to exploit Zverev’s relative lack of mobility, a known vulnerability, by drawing him forward to the net. The Italian, who faced no break points during his semifinal, is also delivering exceptional service games.
His flat groundstrokes combined with tireless defensive coverage render him a formidable opponent.
Sinner holds a 10-4 career advantage over Zverev head-to-head and appears positioned to capture his fifth major title, narrowing the gap with rival Carlos Alcaraz.
