Manchester United have completed the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans for £35 million.
The Belgian international has been a pivotal player for Aston Villa in recent seasons, but has opted to make the switch to Old Trafford. With the midfielder possessing a £35 million release clause, Villa was unable to prevent his departure once United triggered the clause.
Tielemans has signed a five-year contract and will join pre-season training following a three-week break after representing Belgium at the World Cup.
While the 27-year-old enhances United’s midfield distribution capabilities, concerns persist regarding his pace, which could be exploited during counter-attacks. This aligns with similar limitations noted in fellow summer signing Andrey Santos, prompting United to explore additional midfield targets. Roma’s Manu Kone has emerged as a potential candidate, with a reported £51 million fee being discussed.
