AHL Hall of Famer Chris Bourque Appointed Assistant General Manager of Toronto Marlies

The Toronto Marlies have bolstered their hockey operations and coaching staff for the 2026-27 season, announcing the appointment of Chris Bourque as assistant general manager, alongside the additions of Denver Manderson and Greg Moore to the coaching staff.

Toronto Maple Leafs assistant general manager Ryan Hardy will maintain oversight of hockey operations, supported by assistant general managers Mike Dixon and Bourque. Head coach Steve Sullivan will lead a staff that includes assistant coach Mark Giordano, goaltending coach Hannu Toivonen, and video coach Nick Biamonte.

In addition to his new role, the 40-year-old Bourque will lead college recruitment for the Maple Leafs. He previously joined the Maple Leafs’ scouting department in 2022 as a college free agent scout.

A member of the 2026 American Hockey League Hall of Fame class, Bourque’s legendary playing career includes three Calder Cup championships and two AHL scoring titles. He was also recognized as an MVP in both the regular season and the Calder Cup Playoffs. Over 794 games with Portland, Hershey, Providence, Hartford, and Bridgeport, he recorded 251 goals and 495 assists for a total of 746 points, earning three AHL First Team All-Star selections.

Bourque also holds impressive league records, ranking first in all-time playoff assists (83), tied for third in playoff points (118), and second in playoff games played (138), following his championship successes with the Bears in 2006, 2009, and 2010.

Manderson, 37, joins the Marlies after serving as a development coach for the Maple Leafs since 2023-24, following a tenure as a team consultant that began in 2017-18. His background also includes developmental and skills training roles with the Guelph Storm (OHL) and the University of Guelph (USports).

Manderson will also act as the director of minor league development for the Maple Leafs, coordinating player development protocols for the Marlies alongside the broader development and support staff.

Moore, 42, returns to the Marlies coaching staff after a three-year stint with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program. During his time with the NTDP, he helped secure a silver medal (2023-24) and a bronze medal (2025-26) at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, as well as a bronze medal (2024-25) at the IIHF World U18 Championship. A former AHL All-Star in 2008, the Lisbon, Maine native played 377 AHL games for the Hartford Wolf Pack, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Syracuse Crunch, Springfield Falcons, and Adirondack Phantoms. His professional career also includes 10 NHL games with the New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets.

Moore previously served as the Marlies’ head coach from 2019 to 2023, where he amassed a 107-91-8-6 record and guided the team to the North Division lead at the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic.
