Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and actor-influencer Akriti Agarwal have decided to move forward with their relationship once more, reconciling just weeks after publicly announcing their separation. This turnaround follows less than a month after Agarwal announced in September that they were parting ways, attributing the breakup to differing goals and circumstances regarding their future. The two had announced their engagement in March 2026.
What Prompted the Cancellation of the Engagement?
Although the September statement confirmed the separation, it did not provide specific details at the time.
“With a heavy heart, I would like to share that my fiancé and I have decided to part ways due to different goals and circumstances for our future,” she had written.
She further noted that while mutual affection remained, they had accepted that their life paths did not align. At the time, she requested privacy and asked the public to refrain from speculation.
However, her updated statement, titled ‘A Personal Clarification’, provided additional context on the factors that drove her to end the engagement.
“When I called off our engagement, I let the opinions of people close to me, who seemed to know our relationship better than we did, influence how I saw my fiancé and our relationship. I feel I was misguided, and I made a decision without giving us the honest conversation we deserved,” she wrote.
Agarwal acknowledged her role in the decision and the pain it caused before confirming that the pair had reunited.
Agarwal Confirms She and Shaw Are Back Together
In her recent statement, Agarwal explained that conversations between the two helped them gain clarity and reconsider their earlier choice.
“I take responsibility for that decision and the hurt it caused. We have since spoken openly, understood each other, and chosen to be together again. Together, we are enough for each other, and we don’t need anyone else,” she said.
She clarified that decisions regarding their future would be based on their own mutual understanding rather than external input.
“This time, I want our future to be guided by our own understanding, trust and love. Please respect our decision as we begin again,” she added.
Shaw shared the same post online, adding heart and amulet emojis to the message. Neither party has announced a wedding date or outlined plans for the next chapter of their relationship.
When Was the Couple Engaged?
The pair announced their engagement on March 8, 2026, releasing photographs from an elaborate ceremony. Shaw paired the announcement with a cricket-inspired caption reading: “From sixes on the field to a lifetime of hits off it. She’s my perfect innings. #justengaged”.
Shaw wore a white sherwani, while Agarwal chose a red, white, and gold lehenga for the event.
