Red Bull has appointed Alan Permane to a new contract as the Racing Bulls Formula 1 team principal.

Permane will remain in charge of the Faenza-based team through the end of the 2031 season.

A long‑standing member of the Alpine team from 1989 to 2023, where he served in roles such as race engineer and sporting director, Permane joined Racing Bulls (formerly RB) before the 2024 season as racing director and was subsequently promoted to team principal following Laurent Mekies’s succession of Christian Horner at Red Bull.

Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments at Red Bull, commented: “Alan is performing exceptionally well, and the team’s progress directly reflects his experience, dedication, and competitive mindset. He provides clear direction, composure, and a deep understanding of what is required to succeed in Formula 1, while fostering an environment where staff can consistently achieve their best.”

The recent results achieved by Visa Cash App Racing Bulls highlight the team’s strength and the organization’s overall effort. Alan has been instrumental in this advancement, and we are delighted that he will remain in charge as we strive to build on this momentum in the coming years.

Alongside Peter Bayer, Co‑CEO of Commercial, Alan forms a robust and seasoned leadership duo. Their complementary strengths and perspectives strengthen the organization. I am pleased that this stability and continuity provide a clear platform for the team’s future development and long‑term ambitions.

Permane added: “I am immensely proud to continue this journey with VCARB and to thank everyone at Red Bull for their trust and support. The team’s shared spirit—whether at the track, in Faenza, or in Milton Keynes—makes it a privilege to lead such a talented and dedicated group each day.”

Striving for fifth place in the championship is a source of great pride, the result of years of collective effort, and we are far from finished. With the right people, culture, and clear direction, I am excited to keep pushing forward together.

The Italian team has made steady progress under Permane, scoring 46 points in 2024, 92 in the previous season, and already 108 this year, positioning it to secure fifth place in the constructors’ championship—the highest finish in its history since its founding as Minardi in 1985.

When asked about Racing Bulls’ progress in Baku, Permane told Sky Sports F1: “We have simply increased the car’s load and added downforce; each upgrade we introduced has been effective.”
