David Almansa set the pace in Friday’s Moto3 practice at MotorLand Aragón, clocking a best lap of 1:57.473 to head the 26‑rider field aboard his Pirelli‑shod Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP KTM.
Rico Salmela finished a close second with a time of 1:57.552 on his Red Bull KTM Tech3 machine, while his teammate Valentin Perrone claimed third, a lap of 1:57.927 rounding out the front row of the combined practice results.
Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing Honda) ended the session in fourth, and Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) took fifth, with Irish rider Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) completing the top six.
The opening day also marked the return of championship leader Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Viel Aspar Team), who recovered from a collarbone injury sustained at Silverstone and finished eighth.
Rookie Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) placed seventh, making three first‑year riders inside the top ten. Scott Ogden (CIP GreenPower) narrowly missed a direct Q2 spot, ending just 0.010 seconds shy of the cut‑off.
Early in the session, Cormac Buchanan (CODE Motorsports) suffered a high‑side at the final corner but was unharmed and did not re‑enter practice.
The 13th round of the 2026 Moto3 season continues at the Aragón circuit, with riders set to fight for grid positions on Saturday.
