Apple Corps and Universal Music Group (UMG) have established a comprehensive partnership to manage The Beatles’ licensing, merchandising, and e-commerce initiatives.
Founded in 1968 by the band to oversee their commercial interests, Apple Corps has entered a strategic agreement with UMG to amplify The Beatles’ global reach. This collaboration focuses on digital and physical product distribution, licensing opportunities, and online sales related to the iconic band.
The partnership aligns with the upcoming four-part Beatles biopic directed by Sam Mendes, scheduled for a 2028 release. Described as a “cinematic event,” the film will serve as a key component of this unified strategy to engage new and existing generations of fans.
As part of this initiative, Apple Corps’ offices at 3 Savile Row will open to the public in 2027, offering a unique fan experience. The venue will feature seven floors dedicated to previously unreleased archive materials, rotating exhibitions, a dedicated retail space, and a recreation of the studio where the “Let It Be” album was recorded.
Tom Greene, CEO of Apple Corps Ltd, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “We are thrilled to collaborate with UMG on an expanded global merchandising initiative. This aligns perfectly with the upcoming 3 Saville Row fan experience in 2027 and the 2028 biopic films, creating a comprehensive celebration of The Beatles’ legacy.”
“The Beatles’ cultural impact remains unparalleled, and this agreement ensures their music and story continue to inspire global audiences,” Greene added.
Dickon Stainer, UMG UK’s Chairman and CEO, stated: “The Beatles have long been a symbol of British musical excellence worldwide. This partnership with Apple Corps will further elevate their global presence and introduce their artistry to new audiences.”
Recent media coverage highlighted filming scenes from the biopics, including actors recreating the iconic 1969 “Abbey Road” album cover.**
