Apple TV+ is recruiting a Head of Local Language Scripted Projects, a newly created London-based position that signals a deepening commitment to international original programming.

The hire comes amid a leadership reshuffle following the departures of Morgan Wandell and Oliver Jones from the streamer’s international division. Jay Hunt, previously overseeing European originals, has seen her remit expanded to encompass all international and local-language scripted projects.

According to a LinkedIn job posting, the role will sit within Hunt’s team and involve close collaboration with in-market experts and the Creative Director of International TV to define strategy and commission content. The mandate includes developing a comprehensive content strategy for local-language scripted series across key territories and curating a slate capable of resonating across multiple markets.

The job description emphasizes the need to navigate regional nuance, leveraging a deep understanding of international market dynamics—including content quotas and local compliance—to identify whitespace opportunities in highly competitive territories. Responsibilities also cover assessing scripts for “Apple series potential” and cultivating relationships with top-tier talent and agents.

The position represents a rare opportunity to shape the international trajectory of a major streaming platform backed by significant resources. Apple TV+ has historically produced a modest volume of non-U.S. content, but under Hunt’s leadership, the service has delivered notable hits. Her UK slate includes Slow Horses, Bad Sisters, and Hijack. Internationally, the streamer has backed French productions such as the Eva Green-led Liaison and Gaumont’s The Hunt, Spain’s Women in Blue, and Germany’s Where’s Wanda?—the latter two renewed for second seasons. Apple has also acquired Legendary’s French-Japanese series Drops of God and serves as a co-producer on breakout titles like Tehran.

The new hire will step in following Wandell’s exit to launch an independent production venture and Jones’s move to Amazon. Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s head of programming, has assumed oversight of Wandell’s former slate, while Hunt’s expanded portfolio now covers the full spectrum of the streamer’s global originals.
