Apple TV’s “Slow Horses” will continue its annual release schedule with season 7 set to premiere in fall 2027, according to cast member Christopher Chung.
In an interview at the season 6 premiere, Chung confirmed the timeline, saying the series has been “pretty much clockwork since season 3” and that 2027 is “a good bet” for the next season. The actor also noted that season 7 is already in the can, as filming wrapped in October 2025.
ScreenRant: We know season 7 is on the way. Slow Horses so far has been an annual production. Are we hoping for a 2027 release?
Christopher Chung: “I think that’s the plan. I think it’s been pretty much like clockwork since season 3. So I think 2027 is a good bet for season 7.”
Given that all previous seasons except the first have debuted in the fall, a fall 2027 launch appears most likely, though the exact month will depend on Apple TV’s broader release calendar, which includes other major series such as “Silo,” “For All Mankind,” “Murderbot,” “Widow’s Bay,” and “Pluribus.”
The seventh season will see a change in show leadership. Creator Will Smith stepped down after season 5, and Ben Vanstone is set to assume showrunning duties for season 7, following Gaby Chiappe’s stint on season 6.
Season 6, which premiered on Sept. 16, 2024, holds a perfect 100 % rating on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating strong critical reception that bodes well for the upcoming season. The success has also sparked speculation about a possible season 8, with star Gary Oldman suggesting the series could continue as long as Apple TV remains committed and author Mick Herron keeps delivering new Slough House novels.
Season 6 premieres on Apple TV on September 16, with new episodes releasing weekly on Wednesdays.
