An online community in China is stunned by a driver whose act of using a rope as a makeshift road barricade turned tragically, resulting in the death of a passer‑by.

The incident came to light when the driver, identified as Xie, was taken into custody on September 11 for manslaughter in central Henan Province.

On a rural dirt road within a village, Xie, a concrete‑mixer truck operator, observed deep potholes that made travel particularly hazardous.

Having some unused concrete mix on board, he offered to clear the defects at his own expense.
