Arsenal have reportedly kept a close watch on Inter Milan and Italy forward Pio Esposito, with the 21-year-old emerging as a potential upgrade in the attacking line.

The international break means no club fixtures to monitor, but it has still provided a valuable opportunity for Arsenal’s scouting department to assess promising players in a competitive international setting.

A report from TeamTalk confirms that Esposito found the net for Italy against Turkey during the match the Azzurri won 4-1. While Arsenal’s scouts were originally in attendance to observe Real Madrid’s Arda Guler, it was the Italian striker who ultimately stole the show.

“Arsenal have also been doing checks on Esposito during the Serie A campaign, with those assessments going well following his impressive start to the season,” the report states.

As is often the case for young talents in Serie A, Esposito’s path to consistent first-team minutes has been a gradual one. He concluded last season with ten goals and has steadily earned the confidence of both the club and management. This term, he has already recorded two goals in five appearances.

Arsenal possess a reliable option up front in Kai Havertz, but have yet to identify the elite centre-forward that could genuinely elevate the squad to the next level. Should Esposito maintain his current form and continue delivering in front of goal, he could represent their next significant attempt to solve that puzzle.

A move would not come cheap, however. Esposito signed an extended contract with Inter back in the summer, and the Nerazzurri are fully aware of the calibre of talent they have under contract.
