Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens has resurfaced on AS Roma’s transfer radar ahead of the January window.

The 22-year-old has found game time limited since arriving at Stamford Bridge last season, and a summer departure appeared genuinely possible at one point.

Roma were previously linked with Gittens by Sky Sports, though Chelsea were reluctant to let him go at that time.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A club is now planning an active January window, with Gittens once again among their primary targets.

The England Under-21 international is not the only young attacker under consideration, with Real Madrid’s Endrick also on Roma’s radar.

Chelsea supporters will undoubtedly be disappointed with how Gittens’ stint has unfolded so far, as he looks a long way from the player he was at Borussia Dortmund.

Still young enough to turn his career around, the best option may be for Chelsea to let him go out on loan for a spell to gain regular playing time, regain sharpness, and rebuild confidence.

Chelsea might also prefer to keep him for now to provide squad depth under Xabi Alonso, but competition for places is already intense. Other attackers, such as Estevao Willian, have also struggled for consistent minutes, which does not bode well for Gittens’ prospects and makes his situation one that Roma are right to continue exploring.
