Atletico Madrid Launch Parody Attack on Barcelona Over Alvarez Deal, Accuse Club of Smear Campaign]

Atletico Madrid have responded to Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez with a mocking social media campaign targeting the Catalan club.

The Spanish side posted parody content on X featuring Barcelona players Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Raphinha wearing Atletico shirts, complete with humorous transfer bids including concert tickets, a subscription service and sunflower seeds for Yamal.

Atletico insist Alvarez remains unavailable despite valuing the striker at around £130m, and claimed they are facing a “smear campaign” from Barcelona.

“Don’t believe everything you see, especially if it’s related to Barca,” read one post, while another stated: “Finally, we want to take this opportunity to categorically deny that we have made an offer to the sporting director of FC Barcelona to join our scouting team in the Brazilian market.”

“No, Atletico de Madrid would never do something like that. However, in recent months, we’ve been suffering a smear campaign against one of our players.

“Leaked information with ulterior motives, ‘fake news,’ constant disrespect, the culé version of the propaganda machine inventing little stories, calls before direct matchups.”

Barcelona declined to comment when approached by Sky Sports News, and the Spanish FA has also been approached for comment.
