A left hamstring injury has brought an end to Ottneil Baartman’s participation in South Africa’s three-match ODI series against Australia, with Cricket South Africa confirming Duan Jansen as his replacement on September 13, 2026.

Baartman sustained the knock while playing for the Dolphins in the opening match of the domestic first-class series against the Titans. He bowled just five overs before being forced off and was unable to bat in the second innings. CSA confirmed that he will undergo further medical evaluation before a rehabilitation programme is drawn up, and no recovery timeline has been provided.

South Africa’s pace bowling options have been dealt a double blow, with Kagiso Rabada also ruled out of the ODI leg of the tour due to his own hamstring concern. CSA has indicated that a decision on Rabada’s availability for the Test series will be taken nearer to the October 9 start date. The three ODIs are scheduled for September 24, 27 and 30, ahead of a three-Test series to follow.

The setback occurred during the Dolphins’ first-class fixture against the Titans, the opening game of the domestic first-class season.
