Bitmine Boosts Ethereum Holdings with $42.47M Purchase as Tom Lee Cites Market Dynamics]
Bitmine’s Ethereum Accumulation Strategy
Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) continued its Ethereum acquisition strategy, purchasing $42.47 million worth of ETH over the past week. The company added 27,084 ETH to its treasury at an average price of $1,568.01 per token, bringing its total holdings to 5,700,040 ETH.
This recent purchase represents part of Bitmine’s broader cryptocurrency strategy, which also includes stakes in various digital asset ventures. The company’s treasury now encompasses approximately 4.72% of Ethereum’s circulating supply, positioning it closer to its target of 5% allocation.
Market Position and Staking Operations
Despite holding Ethereum through a challenging market cycle, Bitmine has staked 85.6% of its ETH holdings— totaling 4,879,157 tokens—across its MAVAN platform and partner networks. The company projects this staking strategy will generate approximately $211 million in annual passive income.
Bitmine’s diversified portfolio includes 206 Bitcoin, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, a $74 million investment in Eightco Holdings, and $555 million in cash and marketable securities.
Executive Perspective on Market Conditions
Chairman Tom Lee acknowledged the company’s current unrealized loss of approximately $10.073 billion on its $19.3 billion Ethereum investment. However, he attributed recent price pressures to corporate “window dressing” practices during quarterly reporting periods, where institutions temporarily adjust portfolios to present more favorable appearances.
Lee remains bullish on Ethereum’s long-term prospects, citing accelerating adoption by traditional financial institutions and growing potential in the emerging agentic AI economy. He pointed to recent developments including the launch of Ethlabs, a new independent Ethereum research center, and evolving regulatory stances on stablecoins.
The company’s recent addition to the Russell 1000 Large-Cap Index signals increasing institutional recognition and market maturity for Bitmine as a public entity.
