Receiver Brandon Aiyuk continues to utilize Instagram to disseminate content addressing his contractual status with the 49ers and aspirations to join the Commanders. Recent videos included confrontational remarks toward 49ers general manager John Lynch, coach Kyle Shanahan, and agent Ryan Williams.
Aiyuk has maintained that he will not return to the 49ers’ facility until October 19, when the Commanders play at Levi’s Stadium. This stance serves as a conditional framework for his potential relocation.
The 49ers have not formally terminated their relationship with agent Ryan Williams, despite Aiyuk’s public assertions to the contrary. Additionally, Aiyuk has not initiated formal reinstatement proceedings with the NFL, which would be necessary to regain active status or compel release from the reserve/left squad.
Without official reinstatement or reinstatement filing, Aiyuk remains restricted from participating in training camp activities. Should the 49ers release him from the reserve list, he could pursue activities outside the organization while maintaining his NFL rights.
Meanwhile, Aiyuk’s social media activity has raised questions about his preparedness to resolve core legal and contractual matters. Industry standards suggest that formal petitions and agent terminations require specific procedural documentation rather than public social media disclosures.
