The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers is venturing into country music with his upcoming solo project. Titled Thrasher, the album marks his first solo release since 2015’s The Desired Effect. Recorded in Nashville, the record features a distinctive aesthetic—including tassel-heavy cover art (pictured below)—and boasts an impressive lineup of collaborators. The project includes contributions from David Rawlings, pedal-steel expert and longtime Garth Brooks collaborator Bruce Bouton, and legendary harmonica player Charlie McCoy, renowned for his work on Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline. Thrasher is scheduled for release on August 21 via Island Records.
“As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found my way back to my father’s music — ‘Country-Western’ (as he called it) — and discovered that the stories I carry really feel most at home in the skin of this beautiful American tradition,” Flowers stated.
The lead single, “Plans,” is set to debut this Friday.
