Break-In by Broken Lizard Turns Limp Bizkit Performance into Comedy Sketch

The comedy troupe Broken Lizard stormed Limp Bizkit’s stage, dressed as the Vermont state troopers from their popular film Super Troopers, and theatrically filed a ‘noise complaint’ with the headlining band, prompting a surprising turn of events at the venue.

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 18, during、、、 the opening night of Creed’s two‑day *Summer Of ’99 and Beyond* festival, staged at the Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois. Fred Durst and his crew were performing as the festival’s headliner, before Creed took the stage for the second night.

Late in Limp Bizkit’s set, members of Broken Lizard arrived in full *Super Troopers* costume, pretending to shut down the show because of the group’s volume, and shouted various absurd catch‑phrases to the crowd. Their interruption caught many spectators off‑guard, leading to a brief moment of confusion before the troupe revealed the gag.

After a brief “noise complaint” flourish, the ambiguous performance dissolved into a collaborative finale. Broken Lizard joined Limp Bizkit on stage for the closing rendition of “Break Stuff,” sealing the night with joint fanfare.

The Summer Of ’99 Festival featured a roster of acts associated with late‑90s and early‑2000s rock, including Cypress Hill, Bush, Puddle Of Mudd and Hoobastank. Creed concluded its second night on July 19 with a well‑received set.

Broken Lizard is currently promoting *Super Troopers 3*, scheduled for a cinematic release on August 7 through Searchlight Pictures. Led by Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, the film reunites the Vermont officer characters first introduced in the 2001 original. It follows the 2018 sequel *Super Troopers 2* and will feature returning cast members Brian Cox and Marisa Coughlan.

The cameo came shortly after Limp Bizkit invited comedian Tom Greenicher onto the stage during their performance at Ottawa Bluesfest on July 11. Green, a native of the region, joined Durst for “Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle),” creating an entertaining crossover moment with the vocalist.

Limp Bizkit also headlined Download Festival for the first time last.LOGGER_MONTH, 23 years after being scheduled to top the bill. During the set, they paid tribute to the late bassist Sam Rivers, who died last year and was described by the band as “the soul in the sound.”

Guitarist Wes Borland recently remarked that the band is “the biggest we’ve ever been right now” amid their recent resurgence. He explained that their current chemistry and sense of humor helps connect with audiences: “It’s crazy. And I’m not saying that in a cocky way. I’m saying, like, we can’t believe it. We just get along so well now, and everybody, we’re adults, and we’re still having fun doing it, and I think that translates to the audience.”

Limp Bizkit’s most recent single, “Making Love To Morgan Wallen”, was released last September and marks their first new material since the 2021 album *Still Sucks*.
