Carolina Panthers starting right tackle Taylor Moton has been diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and will miss the upcoming regular season, the team announced Tuesday.
The organization confirmed Moton will be placed on the non-football injury list alongside cornerback Jaycee Horn prior to the start of training camp.
Horn is recovering from a foot laceration that required surgical stitches but is projected to rejoin the active roster during early camp activities, the club stated.
Moton began a regimen of anticoagulant therapy following his diagnosis and is demonstrating positive clinical response under daily monitoring by Carolina’s medical staff.
Adding depth to the offensive line, veteran free agent acquisition Rasheed Walker signed in March to potentially assume starting duties at left tackle in place of injured teammate Ikem Ekwonu, who sustained a torn patellar tendon during the wild-card playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams in January.
Rookie selection Monroe Freeling, chosen 18th overall in the 2026 draft, may also see action at right tackle while Moton recovers from his medical condition.
The 31-year-old lineman enters his tenth NFL season, having played his entire career with the Panthers after being drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
