Charli XCX is set to make a cameo in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming psychological thriller, What Happens at Night. According to Variety, the film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio as a married couple who travel to a small European town to adopt a baby. The project, a co-production between Apple and StudioCanal, does not yet have a release date.
The collaboration marks a reunion for the pop star and the legendary director, who previously crossed paths on the cover of Music, Fashion, Film alongside John Cale and Marc Jacobs.
Despite previously questioning her prospects as an actress on the track “Camera” from her MFF album, Charli has enjoyed a massive year on the big screen. She appeared in several films over the past year, including Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, Pete Ohs’s Erupja, and Aidan Zamiri’s mockumentary about her “BRAT” era, The Moment. Additionally, she composed the soundtrack for Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights—which featured her first collaboration with John Cale, “House”—and co-wrote music for A24’s Mother Mary.
