Month‑over‑month, CPI increased 0.4% in August, reversing a 0.1% decline in the prior month and topping the expected 0.3% rise.
Producer prices also accelerated, with the Producer Price Index (PPI) climbing 3.8% year‑over‑year in August, exceeding July’s 3.5% gain and the consensus forecast of 3.7%.
