CMAT Performs ‘Stay for Something’ and ‘Euro Country’ on ‘SNL UK’

CMAT appeared as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live UK, performing “Stay for Something” and the title track from her 2025 album Euro-Country.

The singer joined the September 12 episode, the second season’s premiere, which was hosted by Jeff Goldblum. She first appeared during his opening monologue, in which he performed a song packed with references to the UK and his career.

At one point, CMAT held a cue card reading “Life Finds a Way,” a nod to Goldblum’s famous Jurassic Park line. Goldblum initially said he did not recognize it, but once the band played the film’s iconic theme, he remembered his role. “I get it now, I can do it!” he declared.

CMAT opened her first musical performance with “Stay for Something” from her 2023 album Crazymad, for Me. She followed it with “Euro Country,” the title track from Euro-Country.

She also appeared in the recurring sketch “45 Seconds with Fouracres,” battling comedian George Fouracres with a lightsaber after he forgot the black pudding for her weekly fry-up.

The episode also featured sketches satirizing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s much-anticipated return to England.

CMAT recently released a live EP capturing her performance at St Anne’s Park in Dublin.

She has also announced that she will not perform live in 2027, citing six years of nonstop touring. “I’m not doing any live music next year. The next calendar year, of 2027, I’m not performing any live music at all,” she said. “I don’t know if I was supposed to say that, but that’s what’s happening. And I don’t care — you can come fight me if you want.”

CMAT won the Best Album award for Euro-Country at the Ivors 2026. The record was also shortlisted for the 2025 Mercury Prize, reached No. 4 on NME‘s best albums of the year list, and earned her a Best International Artist nomination at the 2026 BRIT Awards.

SNL UK has received generally positive reviews, although its humor has occasionally sparked controversy. Earlier this year, cast member Ania Magliano addressed criticism of a joke comparing Mark Zuckerberg with Adolf Hitler, describing the technology billionaire as “fair game” and saying she felt “kind of detached” from the online reaction.

The British adaptation of the long-running American sketch show premiered on Sky One in March, with former Saturday Night Live US cast member Tina Fey hosting and Wet Leg serving as the musical guest. Other hosts have included Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, and Nicola Coughlan, while performers have included Kasabian, Foo Fighters, and MEEK.
