Conor McGregor has requested that his UFC 329 loss to Max Holloway be overturned and that all bets be refunded.
The Irish fighter’s return to the UFC octagon after a five-year hiatus concluded in the same manner as his previous bout: a first-round injury-induced stoppage.

On 11 July, McGregor sustained what appeared to be a knee injury during the opening moments of the fight when he attempted a running, jumping kick. The bout was halted at 69 seconds.

McGregor, who celebrated his 38th birthday this week, fell to the mat multiple times during the contest and signaled for the referee to end the fight. The official result was a TKO due to injury, with no precedent for overturning such decisions in UFC history.
Following the event, McGregor denied rumors of pre-existing injuries and confirmed plans for upcoming surgery.
In an Instagram post, McGregor stated: “1. I will have the results of the scan on my leg tomorrow. 2. The fight should be a no contest and all bets returned.”

The majority of wagers were placed on McGregor, despite him entering as an underdog by the largest margin of his career. The specific details of his injury and UFC contract remain uncertain, though McGregor previously indicated a final bout is scheduled for April 2027, pending negotiations for an extension.
Speculation continues regarding McGregor’s future, with some fans suggesting he may complete his UFC deal before pursuing high-profile crossover boxing matches, such as against social media personality Jake Paul.
Max Holloway’s next steps are also unclear, following being challenged by Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett, who secured a first-minute submission victory over Benoit Saint-Denis in the event’s co-main event.
McGregor’s UFC 329 appearance marked his first in the cage since a 2024 civil trial in which a jury found him liable for sexual assault allegations from 2018—an outcome he continues to contest despite a failed appeal.
