Last season, Colorado endured a challenging 3-9 record as coach Deion Sanders underwent recovery from bladder cancer. This year, Sanders emphasizes his renewed focus on coaching, stating he is now fully present and aligned with his professional identity.
“I’m feeling very well,” Sanders shared at the Big 12 Media Day. “I endured significant weight loss privately during my illness. I wasn’t fully myself then. I’m grateful this year to reclaim who I am. I’m happy, enthusiastic, and ready.”
Known for his vibrant persona as both an athlete and coach, Sanders asserts this season will showcase his signature energy.
“I’ve regained my edge, my confidence, my drive, and my charisma,” Sanders remarked, according to Bruce Feldman of TheAthletic.com. “I was 15 pounds lighter but am now fully prepared. I’m back, baby! I’m eager to return to the sideline and excited about this season.”
Sanders must perform strongly, as another low-win campaign could prompt questions about his effectiveness at Colorado.
