The runoff was scheduled after Darline Graham and her opponent emerged as the top two candidates from a larger field in the earlier primary contest this month.
Norman is a supporter of Trump and has voted in favour of many of his policies. However, in 2024 he initially endorsed Trump’s primary opponent Nikki Haley as his preferred Republican presidential candidate.
With near‑complete counting, Graham captured 52.5 % of the vote, according to CBS News, the BBC’s U.S. partner.
In a post on X, she expressed gratitude to her supporters and the president, calling the outcome “deeply honoured and humbled.”
During the campaign, Graham openly addressed her limited political experience, especially after stumbling on a foreign‑policy question in a recent debate.
When questioned about U.S. policy toward Taiwan, Graham responded candidly, “I’m not that informed on national security.” She added, “National security isn’t my area of expertise, but I do support the military.”
