Having faced former two-time world champions, Dillian Whyte has provided a new assessment of the anticipated clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Both British heavyweights completed their weekend warm-up bouts, with Fury facing Mariusz Wach and Joshua encountering Kristian Prenga, each meeting differing levels of challenge.
Although his performance was far from vintage, Fury faced little danger, stopping the 46‑year‑old Wach in seven rounds.
Joshua, however, had to weather two knockdowns against Prenga, who, despite a perfect 100% knockout‑to‑win record, was viewed as a low‑risk opponent before the fight.
It was therefore unexpected when he knocked down ‘AJ’ with a right uppercut in the first 20 seconds and added another knockdown later in the round.
Eventually, Joshua survived the early onslaught and saw his opponent rise again in round two, though the bout fell far short of his expectations.
Speaking to IFL TV, Whyte gave a qualified prediction, recalling that he was stopped by Joshua in 2015 and by Fury in 2022.
“I think it’s either AJ by knockout or Fury by points. AJ’s not gonna outpoint Fury. If Tyson can keep it busy and [jab] for 12 rounds, he wins on points.”
Although he predicted a points win, Whyte acknowledged that Fury could also secure a stoppage victory, thereby giving ‘The Gypsy King’ a better chance than Joshua.
It is worth noting that Fury was at the height of his powers when he stopped Whyte in six rounds at Wembley Stadium.
