Drake’s “Shabang” and “2 Hard 4 The Radio” Miss the No. 1 Summit on Two Different Billboard Charts, Both Blocked by the Same Track
Drake’s “Shabang” and “2 Hard 4 The Radio” both fell short of reaching the No. 1 position on separate Billboard charts this week, despite being the same track performing strongly.
“Shabang,” one of several singles from Drake’s Iceman album that is being promoted to radio, climbed three spots on the Rhythmic Airplay chart, moving from No. 5 to No. 2. That represents a new peak for the song.
Meanwhile, “2 Hard 4 The Radio” surged from No. 8 to No. 2 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, also securing a new top position. Both songs share the same chart blocker, however.
Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat” remained at No. 1 on both the Rhythmic Airplay and Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay rankings, preventing Drake from reaching the top spot with either single.
Drake has long maintained his dominance on radio charts. He currently holds 81 top 10s and 45 No. 1s on the Rhythmic Airplay tally, with even higher numbers on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay list. A combined 94 of his songs have climbed into the top 10, and 46 of those have spent at least one week in the No. 1 position.
On the Rhythmic Airplay chart, “Shabang” is one of nine Drake tracks that have reached No. 2 but not higher. Another pair of Iceman singles — “Janice STFU” and “2 Hard 4 The Radio” — also performed strongly, with the latter having taken over the ranking for a time.
On the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, 16 of Drake’s tracks have peaked at No. 2 but never reached No. 1. Those two songs include “2 Hard 4 The Radio” and “Janice STFU,” which previously stalled in the runner-up position. “Shabang” currently sits at No. 8 on that tally but has room to grow in the coming weeks.
